If you’re looking for a wide variety of kosher food options outside New York City, you’ll want to consider the kosher food in Teaneck, NJ. Here’s a list of my seven favorites:
Etc. Steakhouse
If you’re looking for a high-end meat restaurant, one of the best Teaneck kosher restaurants is Etc. Steakhouse. Chef Warsaw’s vision is to offer the best unique meals with the finest meats, fresh seasonal ingredients, and excellent service. My favorite appetizers are buffalo cauliflower and gnocchi with beef cheeks. Their 5- and 7-course tasting menus are perfect for adventurous diners putting themselves on the chef’s whim. Whether you are in the mood for chili and chocolate ribs or sous vide chicken breast, you will find innovative cuisine at Etc. Steakhouse. They’re BYOB – they do not have a liquor license but do not charge a corking fee.
Mocha Bleu
Having just obtained its liquor license, Mocha Bleu is now known as Mocha Bleu – Patisserie, Bistro, Cafe and Mixology Bar. If you’re looking for a restaurant with a variety of cuisines on the menu, Mocha Bleu will appeal to you. Notable for its ten specialty pizzas, all cooked in a cherry wood kosher oven, Mocha Bleu offers a variety of other dishes, including calzones, strombolis, and pasta. They also have a sushi menu, salads, and fish. Another big draw — a take-out bakery with dairy and pareve delights featuring fancy cakes, pastries, tortes, muffins, and croissants. They make fresh challah every Friday, which is the best in the area. Mocha Bleu welcomes parties and private events and also caters.
Schnitzel Plus
A favorite with the local teens, Schnitzel Plus is the best casual, family-friendly meat restaurant with take-out, eat-in, or sidewalk dining. The restaurant is a vast open room with huge windows looking outside at the busy street. They feature baguette sandwiches and wraps, huge salads, burgers, and fries. Their signature Schnitzel (breaded chicken cutlet) is thin, crispy, and ideal as a sandwich or platter. They make lovely platters with half-sandwiches if you’re hosting a party. A go-to when you just don’t feel like cooking, it’s one of my favorite kosher restaurants in Teaneck, NJ.
Sushi Metsuyan
My favorite sushi in Teaneck is Sushi Metsuyan. Their sashimi, sushi, and rolls are always fresh, with an extensive menu of specialty chef rolls. If you’re not looking for sushi, their Yakisoba pan noodles are excellent. Also, try their edamame with “special sauce,” which is not on the menu. Even if you’re not kosher, this restaurant is a draw for people allergic to shellfish! They have eat-in and takeout options and can host small parties.
Sammy’s New York Bagels

The ever-popular Sammy’s New York Bagels is three stores in one: pizza, coffee shop, and bagel shop. They have delicious bagels, crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside, with various toppings. Made fresh several times a day, you can take a bag to-go hot or get a sandwich with a variety of cream cheese “shmears” or tuna and egg salad. They have a full breakfast and lunch menu with omelets, salads, wraps and pasta, pizzas by the pie or slice, calzones, mozzarella sticks, and more. Filled with comfortable armchairs around small wooden tables, you can sit and enjoy or take out.
La Cucina di Nava
La Cucina di Nava is a dairy restaurant with Italian fare. It is relatively new to Teaneck and under new management as of September 2022. For dine-in or takeout, this is an excellent place for everyday dining or special occasion meals. Their pizzas are heavenly — thin crust and made-to-order, and the mozzarella frittata appetizer is a must! Their salads, pasta, and fish are also notable choices. If you’re looking for fine Kosher Italian, you will not regret a visit.
Chopstix Kosher Chinese
Chopstix Kosher Chinese is take-out only. They have an extensive menu with chicken, veal, beef, and vegetarian options. My favorites are beef egg rolls and garlic chicken. They offer pick-up and delivery and will freeze your meals and ship them to you if you’re traveling!
Chopstix Kosher Chinese actively gives back to the local community by helping those who need it. The restaurant partners with Teaneck Helping Hands to give food to underprivileged people in the local community. They also participate in Teaneck Adopt-a-Park programs.
